The ASP world tour is currently swinging through South Africa with the WQS 6* Mr. Price Pro at New Pier in Durban before heading to the WCT in J-Bay next week. Jordy Smith (pictured) is in his hometown and felt comfortable in his heat yesterday in Mr. Price's round of 96, easily winning to advance to the round of 48. Hot of winning the last event on the QS tour, Kekoa Bacalso, also won his heat to advance into the round of 48 as well. Check back for progress reports on the event and to all the Americans out there, have a great 4th and don't blow yourselves up!

The NSSA National Banquet was last night awarding the finalists from the 2-week long event. The Nationals is by far the most prestigious American amateur event and could be argued for the world. DVS riders posted strong showings this year with the standout performance being put in by Granger Larsen (top photo). This was Granger's last year competing in Nationals before moving onto the WQS tour. Granger made 3 finals, winning the Explorer Juniors & Men's and coming 2nd in the Open Men's. Ezekiel Lau (middle photo) placed 2nd in Explorer Boys and Coco Ho (bottom photo) placed 2nd in High School Women. Congrats to all who made and competed in this years Nationals and especially to the DVS team who put in a strong showing.
